2023: 'You Can’t Buy South West With Dollars' – PDP Slams Tinubu Over Visit To Faosranti

The former leader of the Yoruba socio-cultural group, Afenifere, Pa Reuben Fasoranti, has replied the group’s current leader, Chief Ayo Adebanjo on his insistence that the group endorsed the Labour Party (LP) presidential candidate, Peter Obi.

Naija News reports that Pa Fasoranti had insisted that he endorsed the candidacy of the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu and not Obi.

In a viral video, Pa Fasoranti, who maintained that he still remained the Leader of the group, noted the group never endorsed the candidacy of Obi.

The 97-year-old Pa Fasoranti, advanced that “I am still the leader of Afenifere. Afenifere has not endorsed Obi, we are endorsing Jagaban (Bola Ahmed Tinubu) for the presidency.

“As you can see, the trend, the approval and the acceptability. You could see what happened when Tinubu came to meet me in Akure. The media carried the whole thing.

“Adebanjo does not have the capacity to warn me not to welcome Tinubu. Can he do that successfully?

“What happened was that Adebanjo took a stand and I took a stand. I didn’t call him and he didn’t call me. We never spoke about the visit.

“As you can see, Jagaban is accepted and we approve of him. Obi has no stand in our mind at all.”

The controversy between both leaders of the group followed the endorsement of APC’s presidential flagbearer, Bola Tinubu last Sunday, against a former declaration by Adebanjo stating the group’s support for Peter Obi of the LP.
