The incumbent Governor of Osun State, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Monday swore in 69 Local Government Areas and council chairmen in the state.

Naija News understands that event was coming after the declaration of the individuals as winners in the council polls held last Saturday that was monitored by the state’s Independent Electoral Commission.

In his address during the swearing-in of the candidates who all emerged unopposed on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Governor Oyetola charged them to fulfil their campaign promises.

“The swearing-in today of the elected chairmen and vice chairmen signalled the end of the service of those appointed into caretaker committees at the local government levels across the State. Government is appreciative of their services to the state,” Oyetola said.

“With the passage of the relevant law and today’s inauguration, Osun is fully back to the Presidential System recognised by the Constitution of the nation and its benefits at the Council level,” he added.

Naija News understands that the newly elected officials consist of 30 LGA chairmen and 39 council chairmen.

The issue of security; I can assure you that is one of the biggest strengths I have. All the candidates in this country never had any relationship with the country.

“I was Minister of Defense and through that office, I had an opportunity to supervise the Ministry of Police Affairs.

“Any time the minister was not around during our time, I was the one in charge of Police Affairs and, therefore, I understand the working of this institution. Not only that, I’m happy to say you can talk to any military man serving or retired about Kwankwaso in the Ministry of Defence.

“We have done so much to the extent that we are appreciated. Go and put on Kwanwasiyah cap and walk the street anywhere and if you are lucky to see any serviceman or woman they will tell you more about Kwankwaso.

“First and foremost, we were able to secure the country. The country was peaceful, there was no way you can accuse our government, at that particular time when I was Minister of Defence, of keeping away his eyes on the general security in this country,” Kwankwaso said.
