Sunday Oliseh Expresses Hope Of Coaching Super Eagles Again

Former Nigerian professional football player and manager, Sunday Oliseh, has expressed his desire to once again coach the Super Eagles.

Naija News recalls that Oliseh recently bagged a coaching job at the German Regionalliga West side, SV Straelen.

The much-travelled Nigerian footballer who last coached a team in 2018 at Fortuna Sittard, said in a recent interview that he will be willing to take the lead role again in the nation’s national team.

Oliseh had coached the Super Eagles far back in 2015, but his managerial position only lasted eight months. The 48-year-old voluntarily resigned from the post citing contract violations, lack of support, unpaid wages and benefits to his players for his action.

However, the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations winner said, while appearing on a Channels Television programme on Monday, that his “Priority is to get Nigeria back to the top.”

He added: “I will do it (handle the Super Eagles) if the person employing have the interest of Nigeria at heart.”

Naija News reports that Oliseh recently bagged an appointment as a member of the technical study group for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

Oliseh in his prime represented Nigeria 54 times and scored two goals. He also played for top European clubs including Ajax, Borussia Dortmund and Juventus before retiring from playing football.
