Why I Disobeyed My Parents To Pursue Music
Meanwhile, popular Nigerian singer, Chukwuka Ekweani, CKay, has gone down memory lane to talk about how he disobeyed his parent at the inception of his music career.
The music star spoke of his journey to the limelight in an interview with Joey Akan, the music journalist.
The singer who was formerly signed to Chocolate City, a member of Warner Music Group’s independent label services, disclosed he left his parents after they demanded he did anything but music because he did not want to regret not chasing his dreams at 40.
“I imagined myself at the age of 40 regretting not chasing my dreams. That image didn’t look good. That’s why I left,” he said.
According to the singer known for his hit song ‘Love Nwantiti’, his parent understood his genius academically, reason they pushed so hard for him to do a career job (Engineering) rather than become a musician
“I was always a straight-A student. But I never really saw myself doing engineering. I wanted to do a job that was well paid. I knew my parents would kill me, but I had to move. I did. I was saving for two months,” he added.
