Ahead of the 2023 election, Nollywood actor Frederick Leonard has thrown a critical question to Nigerian youths and students suffering from the lingering Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike.

In a post shared on Instagram, the actor questioned if any student currently at home would vote for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), who seemed nonchalant about the ASUU strike.

Frederick Leonard wonders if the students would be brainwashed or bought due to the hunger deliberately created in the land.

He wrote: “Will any of these students currently on ASUU strike…. totally ignored by the government still vote for the current political party in the coming elections?

“I’m Just Asking Respectfully.. Or will They Forget? Will They Be Brainwashed? Will They Be Bought Because of the Hunger Deliberately Created in The Land? Or will They Be Brave Enough to Try Something new and Different, FOR A NEW and DIFFERENT RESULT. I’m just Asking.”

Keyamo Blames ASUU Over Lingering Strike

The Minister of Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo, during an interview on Channels TV last Friday, accused ASUU of being unrealistic with their demands.

He stated that the government will not be blackmailed by ASUU to borrow money to pay the striking members of ASUU amidst cash shortages when other sectors of the economy also need attention.

According to Keyamo, ASUU should be begged to shelve their strike so the members can return to work, students can resume studies and the nation’s public universities can be re-opened.
