Nigerians Are Extremely Difficult To Lead - Buhari

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Yakubu Maikyau (SAN) over his emergence as the 31st President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA).

Naija News reports that Maikyau, who was elected in an election held on Saturday, replaces the outgoing President of the NBA, Olumide Akpata (SAN).

Maikyau scored a total of 22,342 votes to defeat his closest rival, J. K. Gadzama, SAN, who polled 10,842 votes out of a total of 34,564 votes cast and Taidi Gunu got 1,380 votes to place third.

In a statement issued on Monday by his Spokesman, Femi Adesina, President Buhari felicitated with the NBA on the successful conclusion of its election.

The President said that the NBA has over the years played a major role in the democratic and economic development of the country, with advocacy, counselling and partnership with governments.

Buhari commended the outgoing President of the NBA and all the national leaders who took the association to a higher level, particularly by building new partnerships and integrating of technology.

The President said he looks forward to a healthy working relationship with the new national leaders of the NBA, believing the noble and patriotic antecedents of the legal body will be upheld, and further projected to the world.

Meanwhile, Maikyau has called on those who contested and lost out on various positions to join hands with his team to move the association forward.

Speaking after his victory, the New NBA President commended the outgoing President of the NBA,  Akpata, for his efforts to reposition the association.

He equally implored the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to understudy the technology-driven electoral system of the NBA.
