2023: Why Osinbajo Missed Tinubu's Campaign Flag-off In Plateau

Tinubu Media Support (TMS), a support group for the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, has reacted to the news of Nigeria’s vice president Prof. Yemi Osinbajo undergoing surgery.

Osinbajo announced on Saturday via his verified Twitter page that he was admitted to the hospital for leg surgery.

“I have been admitted today at the hospital for a surgical procedure on account of a recurrent pain in the leg possibly sustained from an injury while playing squash,” the 2023 presidential aspirant wrote on Twitter earlier.

Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande also confirmed this in a statement made available on the internet today.

Akande explained the surgery became necessary because of recurrent pain the VP possibly sustained while playing squash.

Reacting, TMS via its Twitter handle wished Osinbajo a speedy recovery.

It said: “The entire members of Tinubu Media Support wish you speedy recovery our Vice President.”

Meanwhile, the management of the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, Oyo State, has allegedly imposed an extra N1000 daily electricity charge on patients admitted to the hospital.

The hospital announced the development via a circular obtained by Premium Times.

According to the hospital, the new fee was due to the increment in electricity bills and diesel.

The circular reads in part, “Following the recurring power outage in the hospital, high cost of electricity tariff and inflation in the price of diesel which has impeded stable power supply, management has decided to consider measures that can help to facilitate flawless service delivery in the hospital.

“To this end, I write to convey the management’s approval for the mandatory payment of utility fee of ₦1,000.00 (one thousand naira only) daily by every patient accessing care in this hospital.

“You are requested to kindly implement the approval with immediate effect.”

An anonymous source that works in the hospital told the publication that the hospital receives between N50 and N60 million in electricity bills every month hence the reason for the N1000 fee.
