‘Religion Or Competency’ – Buhari’s Ex-aide Reacts As Kwankwaso Picks Idahosa As Running Mate
President Muhammadu Buhari’s former personal assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad, on Thursday said that Nigerians now have options to choose from on who emerges as the country’s next president.
Naija News reports that the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) announced yesterday the emergence of Bishop Isaac Idahosa as the running mate to its presidential candidate, Rabiu Kwankwaso.
The party announced via its official Twitter handle, which reads: “Our Presidential Candidate, Sen. Dr. @KwankwasoRM, has announced Bishop Isaac Idahosa (@BishopIIdahosa) as his Vice Presidential Candidate. With this team, the quest for a New Nigeria becomes more feasible.”
The news has since generated a barrage of reactions among Nigerians who had earlier expected a merger between the NNPP and Labour Party, which had the former governor of Anambra State, Peter Obi as its presidential candidate.
Joining a host of others in reacting to Kwankwaso’s choice of running mate, Ahmad took to the microblogging platform to tell Nigerians they now have many options during the 2023 presidential election.
According to him, Nigerians who want to vote based on religion and ethnic lines now have many options.
The former presidential aide also said those who prefer to vote for competence have their choice to make ahead of the polls, Naija News reports.
Ahmad tweeted: “With Sen. Kwankwaso’s choice of Bishop Isaac Idahosa as his running mate, Nigerians now have plenty options available, those who wish to vote based on ethnic and religious have their choice, and those who want to vote on a competency basis have also their choice. #NigeriaDecides!”
