77 Inmates Released, 13 On Death Row Pardoned In Kano Correctional Facility

The Kano State Governor Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje has granted pardon and released various categories of inmates across the state and paid fines as well as compensation of 77 other inmates in the various custodial centres.

This is just as the Governor also released 10 inmates on Death Row (IDR), and commuted 3 inmates on Death Row (IDR) to Life imprisonment, among them is a female inmate.

This was contained in a statement signed by DSC Musbahu Lawan, Nassarawa Corrections Public Relations Officer, Kano Command, a copy made available on Saturday to pressmen in Kano

However, the correctional authority attested to the inmates’ good behaviour and dedication towards their reformation programmes and have shown remorse for their crimes.

According to him, the Governor also gave the sum of ₦5,000 transport fair to each released inmate.

The Controller of Corrections Kano State Command, Sulaiman M Inuwa welcomed the Governor on behalf of the Controller General of Corrections Haliru Nababa.

He said that the Command appreciated the Governor, for the relentless support and assistance given to the Command, and similarly commended the Governor for making it a tradition that every Sallah celebration be used to visit the centre.

Musbahu disclosed that, in the spirit of Eid-el-Kabir celebration, Governor Ganduje donated Bulls, Rams, and rice to mark sallah celebration in kano.
