Terrorists had stormed the Kuje Medium Custodial Centre and bombed sections of the facility.

The Nigerian Correctional Service NCoS was said to have received intelligence reports that one of its facilities could come under attack.

No group, however, has yet to claim responsibility for the deadly attacks, and officials were yet to comment on the attack.

Before the incident, which left over 500 prisoners unaccounted for, the Nigerian Army, the Department of State Services, and the armed squad of the Nigerian Correctional Service NCoS were usually responsible for the facility’s security.

However, after the bomb attack, the security around the facility has been tightened.

A police helicopter was also seen on aerial patrol of the Kuje. At the same time, the regular cordon of the Custodial Centre has now been extended several meters away from the premises, Vanguard reports.
