Bandit terrorists have murdered a lecturer at the Abdu Gusau Polytechnic in Zamfara State after deceiving his family into paying a huge ransom.

Naija News understands that the deceased, Sanusi Halilu Kaura, was abducted over a month ago along the Kaduna-Abuja highway while heading to Abuja for NYSC mobilization of the polytechnic students.

The terrorists are said to have demanded the payment of five million naira ransom for the freedom of the academician.

A family source who spoke with newsmen said the five million naira ransom was paid to the bandits on Tuesday in a bush near some villages along Kaduna-Zaria road, in Kaduna State.

He said the family were, however, communicated moments later by the bandits that Kaura has been killed. The source according to Daily Post, argued that the development was an indication that the terrorists had killed Kaura long ago even when negotiations for his release were on.

Meanwhile, there was palpable tension in Nasarawa State on Thursday after some unknown gunmen reportedly kidnapped a Divisional Police Officer in the State.

Reports reaching Naija News have it that CSP Haruna Abdulmalik who is in charge of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area was whisked away on Wednesday night while on Patrol along Akwanga road.

The gunmen suspected to be bandits reportedly ambushed the DPO last night just around Bakyano and later reached out to his family.

Vanguard reported that the kidnappers reached out to the family today and demanded the sum of N5m as a ransom for the release of the senior police officer.

Confirming the report, Deputy Chairman of the Local government area, Benjamin Kuze told reporters that the CSP was kidnapped at about 9 pm in the area, adding that efforts to reach the DPO have not yielded positive results since the incident took place.
