Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State has arrived at the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) National Secretariat for his screening.
Naija News reports that Okowa is set to be screened as the running mate to the party’s 2023 Presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.
This news platform had earlier reported that Okowa had been selected to be a running mate to former Vice President Atiku.
The PDP and Atiku finally settled for Okowa, dropping Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State, who was earlier recommended by the party’s Advisory Committee.
Recall that the committee set up by the PDP to help select Atiku’s running mate had voted in favour of Wike over Okowa and Governor Emmanuel Udom of Akwa Ibom.
Also, the PDP National Working Committee (NWC) had on Wednesday during their meeting in Abuja backed Wike to be the running mate to Atiku.
It was learned that the NWC members voted 13-3 to endorse the report of the advisory panel which had earlier nominated Wike for the VP ticket.
