Wike vs Okowa: Atiku Abubakar’s Running Mate Emerges

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is set to announce Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State as the running mate of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

Naija News gathered that Okowa, who is highly favoured by Atiku to run on his ticket, beat Governor Nyesom Wike.

It was gathered that the announcement of Okowa as the PDP’s running mate would be made in the next few hours.

According to Arise TV, the PDP and Atiku have settled for Okowa.

Recall that the PDP NWC had on Wednesday during their meeting backed Wike to be the running mate of its presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar.

NWC members voted 13-3 to endorse a report of the panel which had earlier nominated Wike for the VP ticket.

Sources revealed that members of the PDP NWC communicated their decision to Atiku.

Naija News reports that an advisory panel set up by the PDP to help select Atiku’s running mate had also earlier voted in favour of Wike over Governor Okowa and Governor Emmanuel.
