The PUNCH: The opposition Peoples Democratic Party will on Thursday (today) screen nominees for the vice-presidential position. A chieftain of the party, who confided in one of our correspondents on Wednesday, said contrary to reports, three candidates were shortlisted.


The Guardian: Baring any last minute change, the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential standard bearer, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, will today release the name of his running mate, 24 hours to the deadline set by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The Guardian gathered from sources close to the party that Tinubu had been locked in a lengthy closed door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari in a bid to untie the knot over the Muslim/Muslim ticket being promoted by some interested stakeholders.


The Nation: Anxiety in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) over the choice of running mate to presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has heightened, 24 hours before the submission deadline. Yesterday’s decision by the party to raise a team led by Chief Tom Ikimi to screen Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike created more confusion.


Daily Trust: Ahead of tomorrow’s deadline of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for submission of candidates for the presidential positions by political parties, Chairman of the Northern Governors’ Forum (NGF) and Governor of Plateau State, Simon Bako Lalong, has said that he believes in politics of inclusion.
