2023: Tinubu’s Candidacy Will Affect APC In Two Ways – Lalong Reveals

The incumbent Governor of Plateau State, Simon Lalong has said that the All Progressives Congress (APC) would be affected in two ways following the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the party’s 2023 presidential flag-bearer.

Naija News reports that Tinubu was on Wednesday declared the winner of the APC’s presidential primary election held at the Eagles Square in Abuja. He emerged the winner with 1,271 votes.

Speaking on the development, Governor Lalong said the APC National Leader’s victory will enable the ruling party to retain power in 2023 and consolidate on the legacies of President Muhammadu Buhari.

Lalong noted this on Wednesday in a congratulatory message to Tinubu that was delivered through his spokesperson, Dr Makut Macham.

The governor said the APC national leader’s victory was well deserved. Lalong expressed confidence in the former Lagos State governor, saying that his well of experience would yield positive results for the country if he eventually wins the 2023 general election.

“The overwhelming victory of Asiwaju Bola Tinubu at the primaries vindicates the position of the APC Northern Governors that power should shift to the southern part of the country in the interest of equity, justice and unity,” he said.

Lalong noted that Tinubu had remained a colossus in the Nigerian political landscape. He recalled the party big wig’s involvement in government since the military era, and how he worked with others for the return to civilian rule.

He added: “Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s victory represents the confidence of the party that he has all it takes to lead the APC into the general elections and ensure victory for the party in the presidential and other elections.

“While assuring him of support and collaboration for the battle ahead, I urge him to use his wide reach and political sagacity to ensure the process of reconciliation and enhancing unity is pursued with vigour and determination.

“This is to enable APC to retain power and consolidate on the legacies of President Muhammadu Buhari,” he said.
