Details Of Meeting Between APC Goverrnors And NWC Emerge

The Progressives Governors Forum and members of the National Working Committee of the All Progressives Congress are currently in a closed-door meeting in Abuja.

The meeting is been held at the APC National Secretariat at Wuse 2 area of the City Centre.

There are speculations that the meeting might be targeted toward picking a consensus presidential candidate ahead of the party’s presidential primary.

The presidential primary of the ruling party has been slated for Tuesday.

The ruling party had screened 23 presidential aspirants but the Governor of Jigawa State, Abubakar Badaru and former Senate President, Ken Nnamani has withdrawn from the race, leaving 21 others to battle for the ticket of the party.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has warned that he would not allow the imposition of a presidential candidate ahead of the party’s presidential primary.

The spokesman to the president, Garba Shehu in a statement released on Monday noted that his principal cleared all doubts about where he stands on the choice of a presidential candidate.

Shehu said the president told the 14 governors of northern states that he has no preferred candidate and has anointed no one candidate.
