Just In: Tinubu Set To Return To Nigeria After France Trip

The national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and presidential aspirant, Bola Tinubu, has claimed he once saved the political careers of Atiku Abubakar and Nuhu Ribadu.

Tinubu made the disclosure on Thursday while addressing APC delegates in Abeokuta, Ogun State, ahead of the party’s presidential primaries slated for June 6 and 7 in Abuja.

The APC National leader claimed that he saved Atiku, the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, from the wrath of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Narrating some of his political exploits and sagacity in Yoruba, Tinubu revealed that he saved Atiku when the PDP ganged up against him and he ran to him for help.

He added that he saved Ribadu when he was witch-hunted by some members of the late President Umaru Yar’Adua’s government and removed as the EFCC Chairman.

Tinubu disclosed that he was there for Ribadu when he was demoted to a Deputy Commissioner of Police before being sacked from the Nigeria Police Force.

He said: I’ve been doing this for a long time. Give me the position. It’s my turn,” Mr Tinubu said.

“When Atiku’s party ganged up against him, and Obasanjo brutalised him, he ran to me for help. It was I who saved him. It is my turn now.

“When Nuhu Ribadu was chased with an axe (during Mr Yar’Adua’s administration), this is not a matter of axe. It’s a matter of wisdom.”

Tinubu’s comments come days after President Muhammadu Buhari asked the APC Governors to allow him to choose his successor.
