Bomb Explosion Hits IPOB/ESN Members In Imo

At least two members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its affiliate militant group, Eastern Security Network (ESN) got hit by a bomb explosion on Wednesday, Naija News learnt.

A report by the Nigeria Army which was made available to newsmen said an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by Biafra agitators exploded on their members yesterday, causing severe injuries to at least two people.

The report further stated that the proscribed group have severally planted IEDs along troops’ patrol routes in a failed effort to bring harm to the troops.

Naija News understands that the Nigerian Army made the claims in the statement handed to newsmen by the Brigadier General Director Army Public Relations, Onyema Nwachukwu.

According to Nwachukwu, the latest explosion incident occurred along the Eke Ututu-Orsu road in the Orsu Local Government Area of Imo State.

According to the statement, the dissidents, inadvertently stepped on the IED which they had earlier planted along several routes in Orlu, Orsu Local Government Area, while they were attempting to evade troops’ onslaught against terrorists in the area.

The Army admonished all peace-loving people of the South-East not to hesitate in reporting any possible areas where explosives are suspected to have been buried for proper evacuation and disposal.

Meanwhile, the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, has issued a directive to landlords following the rising security challenges in the state, Naija News reports.

Soludo in a bid to get rid of terrorism and all forms of criminal activities in the state ordered all landlords to embark on a movement he called “Operation Know Your Tenant”.

He charged the landlords to henceforth keep appropriate records of their tenants, warning them to immediately report such tenants that are suspected to be involved in criminal activities or that have an alliance with any criminal group.

The governor in a statement made available to newsmen through his Press Secretary, Mr. Christian Aburime, insisted that no part of Anambra State, whether a house, bush or forest, should be used as camp for criminals, Naija News reports.
