The convener of the Concerned Nigerian movement, Deji Adeyanju, on Tuesday, described the presence of former President Goodluck Jonathan in the All Progressive Congress (APC) as a welcome development.

According to Adeyanju, Jonathan is one of the politicians who can challenge the National Leader of the APC, Bola Tinubu, for the party’s presidential ticket.

He further stated that Tinubu and those pushing the Yoruba presidency would be angry at the presence of the former president in the ruling party.

Recall that Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders’ Association of Nigeria on Monday purchased the APC presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for Jonathan and charged him to contest in the general election.

Jonathan, however, in a statement released through his spokesman, Ikechukwu Eze, stated that the former president was not aware of such a bid.

The former President had since met with the National Chairman of the ruling party, Abdullahi Adamu to inform him that he was not aware of the presidential form.

Adeyanju believes Tinubu would not be comfortable with Jonathan contesting on the platform of the ruling party.

The activist wrote in a post on his Twitter account, “Former President Goodluck Jonathan has joined the ruling APC. This is a welcome development because GEJ is one of those who can effectively challenge the god of Lagos.

“Tinubu and those pushing the Yoruba presidency will be so angry right now, but on Igbo presidency, I stand.”
