BREAKING: DSS Arrests NNPP Supporters In Kano

Tension has been raised in Abia State as armed operatives of the Nigeria Police Force were spotted at the secretariat of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP in the state.

Reports reaching Naija News at the moment confirmed that armed policemen were on Thursday at the secretariat while they also restrict movement.

The in and out of the secretariat located at Finbars Road, Umuahia is reportedly on surveillance by the security men.

They were said to be working with “an order from above”.

The Publicity Secretary of Abia PDP, Fabian Nwankwo, said workers and officials of the party had been asked to observe one-day rest at home.

Meanwhile, the Governor of Bauchi State and presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Bala Mohammed has promised to back whoever emerges as the party’s flagbearer.

Speaking after a visit to former Kaduna State Governor, Ahmed Makarfi, Mohammed promised to back whoever gets the PDP’s ticket in a transparent, credible primary of the party.

The Governor expressed optimism that Makarfi and other leading lights of the party would do the right thing to ensure that the party come out intact after the convention.

Mohammed said, “We have a tradition as a party on how leaders, as well as political offices, are shared. Don’t forget, we led this country for sixteen years. If you look at the previous conventions, we have always come out intact. This is because it is not about individual aspirations.

“So, what we want to see as presidential aspirants and delegates is to have credible, acceptable, and transparent primaries. And we are ready to work with whoever emerges other than being selfish.

“So, more than ever before, the current PDP leadership has allowed each of the candidates to go out and canvass for votes. This is what we have been doing but we have the firm belief that at the end of the day, one person must emerge as the flag bearer of our great party. Whoever emerges, if it is not me, I am ready to support him.”
