No Evidence To Show ISWAP Is Responsible For Owo Attack - Fayemi

The Governor of Ekiti State, Kayode Fayemi has denied supporting consensus candidates endorsed by President Muhammadu Buhari ahead of the National Convention of the All Progressives Congress.

President Buhari in a meeting held with Governors elected on the platform of the APC had called for stakeholders to adopt consensus for peaceful convention.

According to Buhari, choosing the party leadership through consensus is consistent with the spirit of democracy, the Party’s Constitution and the Nigerian Constitution.

He directed the leadership of the party to return the fund of aspirants who have been dropped from the race.

The Chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Governor Atiku Bagudu, while speaking after the meeting said a truce has been reached to fill the NWC positions through consensus.

According to the Kebbi State Governor, PGF is in support of the chairmanship candidate being endorsed by President Buhari, he, however, did not reveal the name of the candidate.

Fayemi while speaking at a high-level policy dialogue organised by the Centre for Democracy and Development (CDD), on Thursday, however, denied supporting candidates endorsed by the president.

The Ekiti State Governor said it is within the rights of Buhari to have preferred candidates but he is not aware of that.

Fayemi stated this while responding to one of the questions asked during the interactive session.

He said, “As for your question on whether the President (Muhammadu Buhari) has anointed anyone, I have no knowledge of that. But the President is well within his rights to have a prefer candidate… if his candidate wins, fine; if his candidate loses, fine.”
