#NigeriaDecides: Ex-APC Chair, Buni Loses LGA To Atiku In Yobe

The reason President Muhammadu Buhari sacked Governor Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State as the chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caretaker Committee has been revealed.

Naija News reports that Governor Abubakar Sani Bello of Niger replaced the Yobe governor, who is on a medical trip to Dubai, as the acting chairman of the ruling party on Monday.

Following his appointment, the Niger governor presided over a meeting of the Caretaker/Extra-ordinary Convention Planning Committee (CECPC) at the party national secretariat in Abuja.

According to The Cable, President Buhari sacked Buni as the party’s caretaker chairman after it was learned he was plotting to disrupt the party’s national convention scheduled for March 26.

A source told the news medium that Buni and the National Secretary of the APC Caretaker Committee, John Akpanudoedehe, obtained a court order to temporarily stop the much-anticipated event until a substantive suit has been heard and determined.

The source said the President knew about Buni’s plot to stop the national convention a week ago and directed his immediate sack before leaving for London on a medical trip.

He added that the APC governors who supported Buni have taken sides with the President and have supported his decision.

He said: “The president asked the Niger governor to replace Buni when he became aware of the document.

“Buni and Akpanudoedehe who is the national secretary will have to vacate their offices immediately.”
