One Killed As IPOB, ESN Clash With Nigerian Army In Anambra

Troops of the Nigerian Army conducting clearance operations in the North West region have killed 55 terrorists in Kaduna State.

It was learned that troops of Operation Thunder Strike/Whirl Punch carried out the operation around Labi general area along the Kaduna – Birnin Gwari road in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of the state.

The Director Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu, made this known during a press conference on Thursday at the Defence Headquarters in Abuja.

Nwachukwu said the troops engaged 75 bandits in a fierce battle around Labi general area close to the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) and neutralized 55 of the criminals.

He said: “The air component carried out air interdiction on terrorist/bandits enclaves in South of Damari after an air reconnaissance missions on terrorist/bandits enclaves. The air interdiction neutralized several armed terrorists close to the NDA.

“The armed bandits numbering about 75 engaged ground troops in a fierce battle around Labi general area along the Kaduna – Birnin Gwari road. The bandits came under heavy airstrikes which aided the ground forces to effectively engage the bandits and neutralize them.

“Consequently, the operation resulted in the neutralization of a total of 55 bandits.”

Nigerian Army Bursts IPOB/ESN Camps In Anambra, Imo, Enugu States

Meanwhile, troops of the Nigerian Army conducting clearance operations in the southeast region have routed some members of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed unit, the Eastern Security Network (ESN) in Anambra and Imo States respectively.

Naija News reports troops of 82 Division Nigerian Army carried out the operation at Azia, Orsumoghu, Lilu Forest, Mbosi and Uli in Ihiala and Orsu Local Government Areas of Anambra and Imo States respectively on Wednesday 23rd February 2022.

This was disclosed in a statement on Thursday by the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachukwu.
