Buhari Meets APC Govs Over National Convention

Governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress on Tuesday met with President Muhammadu Buhari in a closed-door meeting in the Executive Council Chamber of of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The governors’ meeting with President Buhari who happens to be the party leader was rescheduled to today following his trip to Belgium for the EU-African Summit last week.

The meeting which started around 3 pm had in attendance 18 governors of the ruling party.

They are Governors of Yobe, Ekiti, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Kaduna, Lagos, Borno, Niger, Gombe, Osun, Kebbi, Nasarawa, Kwara, Kano, Imo, Kogi, Ogun and Plateau States.

The Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai while speaking after the meeting noted that there is no division amidst them, but differences in opinions.

He further stated that after their meeting with President Buhari they have agreed to zoning formula in all the six geo-political zone.

According to El-Rufai, they would be swapping zones that were occupied by some geo-political zones in the past.

He noted that by the 26th of March all things would be set for the National Convention of the party.
