Alaafin Of Oyo Goes Spiritual On Tinubu's Presidential Ambition

The Alaafin of Oyo, Lamidi Adeyemi, has gone spiritual to support former Lagos State Governor, Bola Ahmed Tinubu‘s 2023 presidential ambition.

Naija News reports the National Leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC) visited the Yoruba monarch on Sunday at his palace to seek his consent on becoming Nigeria’s next president.

Tinubu said he can’t go on with the 2023 presidential race without getting the prayers and support of Alaafin.

“All I came for today is to seek for your blessing, cooperation and prayers for me to become the president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the politician added.

In his response, Oba Adeyemi assured Tinubu that the ancestors of Yorubaland would back him to become Nigeria’s next president.

According to the monarch, Tinubu is the only presidential aspirant that has visited his palace to seek prayers and support.

“If I check my list now, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu is the first presidential aspirant to visit me.

“All you the chiefs and traditional rulers, you have heard what our visitor said.”

Alaafin of Oyo added: “He said our prayers are needed. All the ancestors in Yorubaland, get up and assist your son.”

Meanwhile, Governors elected on the platform of the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC) will meet today to decide the fate of the party’s national convention date.

Having assured party members and the populace of holding a national convention on February 26, the Governor Mai Mala-Buni led Caretaker Committee is reportedly proposing a new date for the APC’s much-anticipated congress.

Naija News learnt that the caretaker committee has proposed a ‘plan’ to present to President Muhammadu Buhari tomorrow Tuesday after reaching a conclusion today with the hope of postponing the convention to March 12, 2022.

A source who spoke on anonymity during the weekend told newsmen that aside from notifying the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), the Buni committee has taken no further steps towards having a convention in February as earlier scheduled.

“No other steps necessary to show preparation for the convention has been taken by the caretaker committee, hence, the necessity for today’s meeting by the governors,” The Nations quoted the source as saying.
