Scores Killed As Gunmen Invade Kogi Community

A fresh attack by bandit terrorists on Jibiya Local Government Area of Katsina State has resulted in the death of a Divisional Police Officer identified as Deputy Superintendent Abdullahi Rano.

An Army Commander, Lieutenant Colonel Masoyi was also injured during the attack by the terrorists in the early hours of Wednesday, Naija News understands.

Rano was said to have led the police response when the gunmen attacked but unfortunately lost his life in the process.

It was gathered that the insurgents stormed Magama Jibiya about 2 am and started shooting sporadically. The terrorists were said to have gone to the house of one Haliru Mai Bakin Mai and kidnapped his wife.

The attack was confirmed to AIT by the deputy village head of Mazanya, Abubakar Sani.

Efforts to reach both the police and the army for further comments on the incident were not successful as at press time but calm is said to have been restored to the community after security personnels were deployed to the area.

Meanwhile, an Anglican priest, Rev Canon Chibieze Abone, has been robbed of his vehicle by some gunmen right inside the church compound.

It was reported that the cleric was robbed at the St. Thomas Anglican Church, Oba, Idemili South Local Government Area, Anambra State on Tuesday.

A further report revealed that Abone lost other valuables to the robbers during the robbery.

It was gathered that the robbers held Abone at gunpoint before taking away his Army-green coloured Toyota Highlander SUV with registration number GGE 195 FX.

The incident was revealed by the Commissioner for Information and Enlightenment in the state, Don Adinuba, in a statement released on Tuesday.

According to Adunuba, the priest lost vital documents, which were also taken away with the car.
