Husband To Woman Stabbed To Death By Her Neighbour Speaks

Husband of Chikaodi Okeke, the woman whose neigbour, reportedly stabbed her to death has revealed how she was killed in broad daylight.

Speaking to BBC Pidgin, Kenneth Okeke from Ozu-Omuma village, Oru East local government of Imo state said he did not expect the quarrel between his late wife and their neighbour would lead to her death.

Narrating what happened, Okeke said it all started on the morning of Saturday 29 January 2022, his wife, 39 year old Chikaodi Okekke had a little quarrel with one of their neighbors, Mariam Adamu who was living in the same compound with them at No, 24 Chief Aleruchi street, Rumuigbo Obio Akpor LGA of Rivers state, southern Nigeria.

“They lived upstairs while we lived downstairs. Her husband came to me, urging that he should forget about the quarrel and i agree, and went to work. Later in the afternoon, Mariam with two of her colleagues in the yard, Miracle and Mummy Amanda ganged up and started afresh with my wife. Thankfully, people came around to separate them.

“When i came back in the evening , the husband of Mariam came to plead with me to leave the matter, adding that on Sunday he would invite the landlord and settle the matter.”

Kenneth added that on Sunday 30th, January 2022, after his wife finished cooking, she went down the street to buy sachet water and mineral they wanted to eat the food with, that’s where the neighbour Mariam Adamu reportedly ambushed her along their street near the store and poured her grinded pepper on his wife body and eye. When his wife fell, she removed her dagger and started stabbing my wife in different places before running away.

“People who stayed in the street, quickly pick my wife and placed her on a taxi headed to UPTH(University of Port Harcourt Teaching Hospital) but on the way she died.”

“I wasn’t around when it happened, i had escorted a visitor who came to my house and when i came back, people told me what happened, i rushed to the hospital and was told my wife was dead. From the hospital to the police to report and then to the mortuary. Police deposit her body at the military mortuary.

She was stabbed at her hand, her breast and chest. The stab at her breast touched her heart which made her started vomit blood and bleed in the mouth.”

He added that the police traced the suspect, Mariam Adamu to Auchi in Edo state where she ran to and arrested her, thus bringing her back to Port Harcourt.

Two other ladies who had quarreled with his wife were also arrested and now the case is currently at the state criminal investigation and intelligence depart SCIID Port Harcourt.
