Transfer News: Cristiano Ronaldo Plotting January Move

Manchester United have been knocked out of the FA Cup.

Naija News reports that the Red Devils on Friday night lost 8-9 on penalties to Championship side Middlesbrough at Old Trafford.

The English Premier League club had dominated the match all through but lost the chance of playing further in the competition after playing 1-1 after 90 minutes, leading to the penalty shoot out.

Naija News understands that Ralf Rangnick‘s side could have possibly led on but a penalty miss in the first half by Cristiano Ronaldo held the Red Devils down.

Jadon Sancho had put United ahead after scoring a goal in the 25th minutes of the game.

Middlesbrough’s Matt Crooks, however, rescued his side with an equalizer in the 64th minute of the game.

The match eventually ended in a draw, leading to penalties.

Manchester United Anthony Elanga was the only player who failed to convert from 12-yards during the shootout, thereby helping the visiting team to qualify to the next stage of the competition, Naija News reports.

Manchester United had last won a trophy in 2017.

Meanwhile, Egypt head coach, Carlos Queiroz, has reacted to the Thursday night African Cup of Nations semi-final victory against the host nation, Cameroon.
In his post-match talks, Queiroz alleged that the match referee, Bakary Gassama had entered into Egypt dressing room to intimidate his staff ahead of the match.

Naija News reports that Egypt knocked out Cameroon last night in a penalty shootout.

The two countries had maintained their energy throughout the 90 minutes of the game and ended the lap with a goalless draw.

However, the Pharaohs defeated the Indomitable Lion 3-1 on penalties, after they both could not win in the added extra time play.

Naija News recalls that Queiroz was shown a red card just before the second half ended after his reactions had offended the referee.
