Drama As Ebonyi PDP Spokesperson Slumps In Court (Photos)

There was a mild drama on Wednesday when the Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ebonyi State, Chika Nwoba slumped in court.

Nwoba who was due to appear before the Magistrate Court 2 inside the Ebonyi Judiciary Headquarters Abakaliki was brought in by operatives of the Nigeria Police.

Naija News gathered the PDP spokesperson was arrested by operatives of the Ebubeagu Security outfit on Tuesday over allegations of spreading fake news on social media.

He was handed over to the Police thereafter who failed to arraign him in court that same day despite bringing him to court.

His lawyer, Luke Nkwegu said his client was beaten by the Ebubeagu operatives on Tuesday and sustained injuries but was prevented from getting medical treatment.

Around 3pm on Wednesday, he was eventually brought to court but slumped just as he was about to enter the courtroom.

The development forced the Police operatives to take him out expectedly to a nearby hospital after efforts to resuscitate him within the court premises failed.

But shortly after he was taken out, he was returned by the Police with his lawyer alleging the Police got an order to bring him to court either dead or alive.

When the PDP official was eventually arraigned before the judge, Blessing Chukwu he had to be held by two police operatives to prevent him from slumping again and he failed to respond when his name was called during the hearing of the matter.

His lawyer urged the presiding judge to allow his client to go for medical treatment while Police prosecutor, Mathis Eze objected the appeal.

The Judge however ruled that Nwoba be sent to the Police Clinic in Abakaliki for treatment.

The matter was then adjourned till the 14th of January 2022.
