APGA Fixes Dates For Ekiti, Osun Governorship Primaries

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has fixed dates for its primaries for the 2022 Ekiti and Osun states governorship elections.

The National Organizing Secretary of APGA, Ifeanyi Mbaeri, made this known in a provisional timetable of activities released on Sunday in Abuja.

Mbaeri disclosed that the primary elections for Ekiti and Osun states would take place on January 27 and March 10, 2022, respectively.

He stated that the screening of prospective governorship aspirants for the Ekiti governorship would be carried out at the APGA National Secretariat, Abuja, on January 22, 2022.

According to the APGA stalwart, the resolution of appeals/disputes arising from the exercise would be done on January 28.

Mbaeri asserted that the sale and return of forms for the Osun State primaries to the APGA National Secretariat in Abuja would be between January 20 and February 20, 2022.

The APGA chieftain revealed that the nomination form is pegged at N10 million, while the expression of interest form is fixed at N2 million.

Mbaeri added that women and People Living With Disabilities (PLWD) would pay half of the sums fixed for each position.

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari has distanced himself from any of the two factions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State.

Naija News reports that this was made known in a statement on Saturday by the president’s spokesperson, Garba Shehu.

The presidential aide stated that the press release became necessary to clear the air on any purported endorsement of any faction.

Shehu said the statement was to counter a “public statement by one of the factions of the All Progressives Congress in Kano State, that they have received the endorsement of President Muhammadu Buhari.

“This is blatantly untrue. This cannot happen when matters are awaiting adjudication by the courts.

“To be clear on this one, President Buhari has not endorsed any faction.

“His support is for the All Progressives Congress as a Party, united and strong, and not of any faction.”
