Ikoyi Property: EFCC Accuses Saraki Of Blocking Investigation

A prominent library, located in the heart of Ilorin, the Kwara State capital was on Tuesday demolished by the administration of Governor Abdulrazaq Abdulrahman.

The library, known as the Sola A. Saraki Library Complex is said to be owned by the Ilorin West Local Government authority.

Naija News reports the popular Saraki library is named after late Olusola Saraki, a second republic Senate Leader and father of the immediate past President of the Senate, Dr. Bukola Saraki.

The edifice was pulled down on Tuesday but the state government is yet to give a reason for its action.

Meanwhile, Dr. Saraki, also a former governor of the state, has reacted to the demolition of the structure by the Kwara State government.

The younger Saraki who took to his Twitter handle, expressed shock and displeasure over the destruction of the edifice.

He tweeted “Wow!” on his verified Twitter handle.

Saraki added: “I just got the news that the major official assignment carried out by the governor of my state, Kwara, today, is the demolition of an old public library named after my late dad, Dr. Olusola Saraki.

“May Almighty Allah continue to retain a place for Oloye in Aljannah Firdaus.”

Meanwhile, President Muhammadu Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, has criticized Yoruba nation agitators and the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for protesting against his principal at the United Nations.

Naija News reports that the presidential spokesman in an article titled ‘My takeaways from the 76th UN general assembly session’, described the protest in New York, US, during the United Nations event as “tribal bullying of government officials”.

According to him, “While President Buhari was focusing on the problems plaguing the nation and in some instances asking for international support to deal with such, a coalition of groups protested outside the UN building.

“This happens with all countries- the United States, UK, India, Iran, China, Egypt- about everyone and about every conceivable issue but most especially climate change, gender and animal rights among others

“There are some from the so-called “Yoruba nation” group and the so-called “Indigenous People of Biafra” (IPOB) terrorist group who worked together to protest outside the United Nations building in New York.

“They sought to claim astonishingly that, somehow, they have earned rights through violence, murder of law enforcement agents and the innocent, and extortion to run their own affairs”.
