Former presidential candidate of the African Action Congress in the 2019 general elections, Omoyele Sowore has been arrested.

According to SaharaReporters, the activist was arrested for attending the court cases of Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and #BuhariMustGo protesters at the Federal High Court, Abuja.

Sowore who confirmed his arrest said, “I have just been arrested by the Nigerian Police at the Federal High Court. Subjected to beatings by police officers and taken to the Federal Secretariat police station,” he said

Kanu is facing an 11-count charge of treason, treasonable felony, terrorism and illegal possession of firearms, among others.
