Former Super Eagles player, Osaze Odemwingie and Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye have reconciled after the later gave clarification on his statement which caused a feud between them earlier.

Naija News understands that a ‘social media war’ ensued between the two friends earlier after Osaze called out Peter over his lottery business and a video clip he shared on his social media page.

After many social media reactions and trolls, the retired footballer took to his Instagram page to apologized to the singer for condemning his actions and explained what he meant with his comments earlier.

Osaze noted that he meant no offence with his statement, adding that he was only concerned with the impact of the gambling business on some Nigerian youths who cannot afford money to participate in the lottery but go-ahead to steal from their people.

According to the former Stoke City star, Peter’s reaction to a young man who revealed he stole from his mother to play the Zoomlifestyle lottery shows that he encourages gambling. Osaze added that Peter should have countered the young man and advise him never to steal again.

Osaze’s apology and clarification read: “I didn’t mean no offence, to be honest. As you offered to pray for me feeling like things aren’t right with me, I thought I will do the favour back because what you sow is what you reap. You pray for me and I pray for you.”

“When I watched your video about the guy that took his mum’s last N500 to gamble, what you are doing is that you are encouraging gambling. Some people win, some people lose. So he went into tears saying his mother is ill, she has cancer, she is on chemotherapy and you asked him why was he crying and he said because he took his mum’s last N500 to buy a ticket. Luckily he won but I believe there are some guys who didn’t win on that day and possibly took their dad’s or mum’s or friend’s last money feeling like they would win because gambling is an addiction.”

Speaking on Peter’s dance challenge video, Osaze asked if the singer would allow his biological children to attempt dancing and breaking of bottles on their head as displayed in the video he shared.

He said: “When I saw the video you put out encouraging people as they break bottles on their head and dancing, I asked you if these were your sons, will you encourage them to do that? So this is how our Christmas should be in Nigeria now? Guys breaking bottles on their heads and dancing like crazy. I am just saying my opinion. I don’t think it is right. Maybe once a year you want to go mad, maybe you go to somewhere and do that but not to bring that kind of thinking into Christmas because it is family time, a nice time.

So apologies if I offended you in anyway’.”

On his part, after watching the later’s apology and clarification video, Okoye said he accepted the apologies.

To confirm this, the singer commented on Osaze’s recent post where he further explains why he said his songs draw him closer to God.

Peter wrote: “Remain blessed bro! So sorry for calling you out as well. Apologies?? Remain blessed bro! 1 luv”
