The Gombe State House of Assembly on Tuesday, November 24, impeached the Speaker of the House, Hon. Abubakar Sadiq Ibrahim.
Naija News reports that Ibrahim was replaced immediately with Hon. Abubakar Mohammed.
Speaking to newsmen, the Chief Whip of the House, Hon. Musa Buba said the removal of the former Speaker was in exercise of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as amended.
He stated that 16 members of the House out of the 24 passed a vote of no confidence on the former Speaker.
Musa Buba also dismissed the insinuations that they were being sponsored saying the decision of the House is in the common interest of the state.
Meanwhile, the crisis rocking the Ondo State House of Assembly has seen the Deputy Speaker of the house, Iroju Ogundeji, impeached by lawmakers of the Assembly.
Following the impeachment process on Tuesday, Mr. Samuel Aderoboye from Odigbo Constituency 2 was immediately elected as the new Deputy Speaker.
