1. Xenophobic Attacks: Ghanaian Traders Suffering From Inferiority Complex – Dabiri-Erewa

Honourable Abike Dabiri-Erewa on Monday, identified the fear by Ghanaian traders of competing with their more industrious Nigerian counterparts as responsible for the frequent attacks on them in the country.

Dabiri-Erewa, Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) added further that the decision by the Nigerian government to close its borders is not responsible for the clampdown by Ghanaian authorities on Nigerian traders in the country.

2. We Will Not Support ‘Igbo Presidency’ In 2023 – Buba Galadima

Buba Galadima, a former ally of President Muhammadu Buhari, has said that Nigerians would not an Igbo presidency in the 2023 election.

Galadamia stated this on Monday during an interview on Arise Television The Morning Show.

The elder statesman said that the people will support a candidate from South-East, but not “Igbo presidency”.

3. Nigeria Needs A Totally New Constitution – Olanipekun

Senior Advocate of Nigeria and former President of the Nigerian Bar Association, Chief Wole Olanipekun has called for a total redrafting and replacement of Nigeria’s constitution.

Olanipekun in his submission said what Nigeria needs to make progress is more than just amending the current constitution which he explained is far from realities in the country.

The legal luminary noted that the current constitution was imposed on Nigerians by the military and there is the need for “a total overhaul, a redrafting, a re-crafting and a total replacement, starting from the preamble to the definition schedule”.

4. Nigeria’s Inflation Jumps To 14.23%, Highest In Four Years

Nigeria’s inflation figures have now hit 14.23 percent according to the latest figures released on Monday by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS).

This is the highest it has reached in the last four years, Naija News understands.

According to the NBS, consumer price index, which measures inflation, hit 14.23 percent in October.

5. NECO Releases 2020 National Common Entrance Examination Results

The results of the 2020 National Common Entrance Examination organized by the National Examinations Council (NECO) has been released.

This was disclosed on Monday by the Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Godswill Obioma, while presenting the results to the Minister of Education, Mallam Adamu Adamu, in Abuja.

According to the NECO boss, the national cut off mark for this year is set at 142.

6. AGF Malami In Fresh Trouble Over Comment On Lekki Shooting

Abubakar Malami, the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, has come under attack over his comment on the October 20 shooting at the Lekki toll gate in Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial city.

Naija News recalls that the Attorney-General of the Federation had said it was likely hoodlums wearing military fatigues, and not soldiers, shot the #EndSARS protesters.

Reacting to AGF Malami’s comment in a statement, the Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria (HURIWA), described Malam’s statement as: “an unwarranted irritation and an aggressive form of insults and lack of respect for the innocent peaceful protesters.

Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno-South says kleptocrats have seized control of President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration

8. EndSARS: CBN Lacks Powers To Investigate Crime – APC’s Banire

Muiz Banire, a chieftian of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, has condemned the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for freezing bank accounts of EndSars promoters across Nigeria.

Naija News reports that the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) had asked the Federal High Court to freeze accounts of 19 Nigerians and a public affairs company linked to the End SARS protests.

9. NLC Tackles FG On Fuel Price Increase, Reveals What They’ll Do

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) on Monday, rejected and condemned the recent increase in petrol price announced by the federal government.

The NLC in a statement by its President, Ayuba Wabba note that the timing of the increase is wrong and totally negates the agreement reached with the government on such matters.

10. Nigerian Lawmakers Hold Closed-Door Meeting With Service Chiefs

The leadership of the House of Representatives earlier on Monday, held a closed-door meeting with all the heads of security agencies in the country behind closed doors.

The meeting, which began at about 2:15pm, was presided over by the Deputy Speaker, Ahmed Wase.
