The event, a low key one, held at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Edo State, and the oath of office was administered by the State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Esther Edigin.

It was the Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, flanked by his wife, that first took the oath of office at about 11.48pm, before Governor Godwin Obaseki, also flanked by his wife took his own oath of office at about 12.00pm.

Naija News recalls the two men had earlier contested and won the 2020 Edo State governorship election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
