Below is a roundup of top stories on the Edo Governorship election

Ize-Iyamu: APC Stuck With Candidate Burdened By Image Problem – PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has stated that the Edo State Governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has an image problem.

Naija News recalls that during the 2016 APC governorship campaign the former National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole alleged that Ize-Iyamu poured acid on a student while he was a student at the University of Benin and was subsequently expelled.

Reacting during an interview session in an online television programme on Sunday, Ize-Iyamu debunked the allegation and explained that contrary to what is in circulation, he drew the attention of the school‎ security and took the victim for first aid treatment.

Ize-Iyanmu, however, admitted to the claims that he was a member of the Pyrates Confraternity and a student union leader.

In a statement signed by its spokesperson, Kola Ologbondiyan, the PDP said the confession by Ize-Iyamu, is a vindication that he is unfit to hold office as governor of Edo state.

The governing party in Edo State noted that the expulsion by a panel, which, according to Oshiomhole, “was chaired by no less a person than the current Chairman of the Presidential Advisory Committee Against Corruption, PACAC, Prof. Itse Sagay, has put a permanent deficit on Ize-Iyamu as the APC candidate.”
