Many political parties will be participating in the election but all attention would be on the candidates of the two major parties, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Edo Governorship election would serve as a litmus test for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) following the controversies that trailed the 2019 general election.

Edo 2020: 5 Aides To Obaseki Resigns, Joins APC

Governor Godwin Obaseki has lost some of his trusted allies to the political gallery of drama as five of his aides has pulled out of his administration

Naija News learnt that the aides resigned their appointments ahead of the September 19 governorship election in support of the all progressive party.

Those aides that pulled out are, Honest Imina Unuagbon (SSA LGA), Goodluck Uyigue (SSA Ward 2), Razak Rotimi (SA Ward 7), Victor Olunyomi (SA Ward 8) and Smart Bank (SA Ward 10).

The special assistants in a letter dated Friday, July, 3, explained that the reason for their resignation was based on the ground that they were not ready to defect to the PDP along with the governor.

Edo 2020: Wike Will Lead PDP To Victory – Atiku

The Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, has noted that the Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, is capable of leading the party to victory at the Edo State governorship election.

Recall that the party’s National Working Committee on Friday appointed Governor Wike as the Chairman, Edo State Governorship Election National Campaign Council.

The party also appointed 77 others with 13 PDP governors in the team.

The former Vice president while speaking on the development stated that the combination of Governor Wike and Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State as chairman and vice-chairman respectively will lead the party to victory.

Atiku who took to his Twitter account wrote, “Congratulations, @GovWike on your appointment as Chairman of Edo State Governorship Election National Campaign Council of our great party, @OfficialPDPNig.”
