Lagos Speaker, Obasa Reveals How Much Lawmakers’ Wives Spent On Trip To Dubai

Hon. Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, has revealed the amount spent by wives of Lagos lawmakers on a trip to Dubai, UAE.

Hon. Obasa defended allegations of corruption leveled against him when he appeared before the Lagos State House of Assembly panel of inquiry on corruption.

While insisting that the allegations were untrue and the handiwork of his enemies, the Lagos Speaker said the wives of 20 lawmakers flew to Dubai for the event and were given N4 million each as estacodes.

“We gave N4m to each of the participants for air tickets, hotels, feedings and local travel.

“Air tickets to Dubai alone cost about N2m. Some of these allegations were raised for a crusade to get the Speaker out of office.

“The House of Assembly is above the common standard of excellence and we have to train people, and this comes at a cost,” Obasa said.
