1. President Buhari Sacks NECO Registrar, 4 Other Top Staff For Fraud

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday terminated the appointment of Charles Uwakwe as the registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO) and four other management staff for various offences.

Naija News reports that the President sacked the NECO registrar and four other top staff after a panel investigating allegations of misconduct against them while they were on suspension recommended that they should be removed.

2. Fire Engulfs NIPOST Headquarters In Abuja

The headquarters of the Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) in Abuja, was on Wednesday engulfed in fire.

Naija News learnt, however, that some members of staff were in their offices when the fire broke out.

3. Rivers Govt. Raise Alarm Over Plan To Declare State Of Emergency

Governor Nyesom Wike-led government has revealed that there are plans by a certain individual to cause a crisis in the state that will lead to the declaration of a State of Emergency.

The State government alleged that the planners of the crisis are Rivers politicians resident in Abuja.

4. COVID-19: 292 Nigerians Evacuated From Saudi Arabia Arrive Abuja

The arrival of two-hundred and ninety-two Nigerians evacuated from Saudi Arabia due to the outbreak of Coronavirus has been announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama.

The development was revealed by the minister on his Twitter account on Wednesday, he further stated that the evacuees were mostly women and children.

5. COVID-19: IGP Releases New Directive On Movement Of Essential Workers

The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, on Tuesday, released new directives permitting essential workers to move freely during Coronavirus lockdown.

There were reports on Tuesday that essential workers in Lagos State were blocked off at several police checkpoints around the State, at the start of the 8 pm curfew.

6. COVID-19: Enugu Govt Confirms One New Case, Discharge 2 Patients

The Enugu State Government on Wednesday confirmed one new case of COVID-19 in the state bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the state to 16.

The development was revealed by the Commissioner for Health in the state, Ikechukwu Obi, in a statement released in Enugu.

7. Lagos Discharges 17 More COVID-19 Patients, Bringing Total To 649

The Lagos State government on Wednesday announced it has discharged 17 more COVID-19 patients who have recovered from the virus.

According to a post on the Twitter page of the Lagos State Ministry of Health, the patients were discharged after testing negative twice to the coronavirus infection.

8. NCDC Confirms 284 New Cases Of Coronavirus

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control, NCDC, on Wednesday night confirmed two hundred and eighty-four new cases of Coronavirus in Nigeria.

The agency in a post on their official Twitter account confirmed the new cases bringing the total number of confirmed cases in Nigeria to 6677.

9. COVID-19: Governor Ayade Orders Resumption Of Sunday Services In Cross River

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has ordered the resumption of Sunday worship in the state.

The directive was revealed in a statement entitled “Resumption of Public Worship” released on Wednesday night and signed by Mr Christian Ita, Special Adviser, Media and Publicity to the Governor.

10. 60 Per Cent Of Coronavirus Cases In Rivers Are Oil Workers – Wike

Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has revealed that 60 per cent of coronavirus confirmed cases in the state are from oil workers returning from rigs.

The Rivers State Governor made this claim when the Management Team of Mobil Producing Nigeria Unlimited paid him a courtesy visit at Government House Port Harcourt.
