Jigawa State: Gunmen Kidnap Islamic Cleric

A 60-year-old Islamic cleric, Malam Sani Saleh, has been kidnapped by unknown gunmen in Ringim local government area, Jigawa State.

The development was confirmed by the spokesmen of the state police command, SP Abdu Jinjiri.

He explained that “the incident happened on 17/03/2020 at about 0120hrs when some hoodlums, about five in number with about three motorcycles, went to the residence of the victim at Kulawa village area in Ringim local government and took him away.”

The spokesperson noted that after receiving the information, a team of policemen rushed to the scene, he further stated that before their arrival, the gunmen had moved out of the village with the victim.

However, two people have been arrested in connection with the incident.

He said the case was under investigation and that they would be taken to court for prosecution.
