The Peoples Democratic Party has commiserated with victims of the pipeline explosion that rocked the Abule-Ado area of Lagos on Sunday.

The Party speaking via its official twitter handle stated that the nation is shocked and grief-stricken by yet another devastating explosion which again has resulted in the agonizing death of innocent citizens while injuring and rendering many more homeless.

The part also stated that they are particularly worried about the spate of explosions and other avoidable disasters, particularly in Lagos and other strategic states, which raises grave public safety concerns in our nation’s commercial nerve centres. The main opposition party also called for a rejig of the national emergency response in a manner that will educate Nigerians on how to prevent disasters.

The PDP also called on both the  Lagos state government and the Federal Government to confer a worthy posthumous recognition in honour of Revd Sister Alokha who risked her life to safe some of the students from the explosion.

The blast which was caused by human error and aggravated by gas cylinders led to the death of at least 17 people and about 25 injured. Properties worth millions of Naira were not spared as the blast destroyed belongings of people in an area where petroleum pipelines pass through.
