Ondo: Policeman Kills Wife, Self Over Alleged Infidelity

The Ondo State Police Command has confirmed the death of a policeman identified as Tolulope, who allegedly shot his wife and later killed himself.

According to a report gathered that the incident which took place on Tuesday happened in Akungba-Akoko in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of the state.

A source which spoke on the incident noted that the deceased was attached to the Akungba Police Division and had committed the act after he returned from work.

Another source noted that Tolulope and his wife had frequent fights in their marriage over the issue of infidelity.

The source further stated that the deceased always accused his wife of receiving numerous calls and text messages from different men.

The source said, “The man (deceased) did not trust his wife as they always fought on the matter that his wife received calls from different men. This might be the reason he took the life of the woman and himself.”

“Now that they are dead, they left a three weeks old baby and a two years old child.”

The spokesperson of the command, Tee-Leo Ikoro, who confirmed the incident, described the incident as sad and unfortunate, he noted that investigation has started to unravel the cause of the incident.

Ikoro said, “The couple were the only one at home when the incident happened, so no one can actually pinpoint that it was a case of murder and suicide.”
