Breaking News: Court Sentence Olisa Metuh To 7 Years Jail Term

The Federal High Court in Abuja has ordered Metuh to pay a total sum of N375million to the coffers of the Federal Government after sentencing  Olisa Metuh  To 7 Years jail term

Naija News reports that the trial judge Justice Okon Abang found him guilty of all the charges filed against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

This online media learnt that the Jurist sentenced Metuh to seven years imprisonment in respect to Counts One to Three. On Count Four, the PDP spokesman was sentenced to five years while he got seven, three and seven years for Counts Five, Six, and Seven years respectively. He, however, held that all the sentences should run concurrently, with effect from February 25, 2020.

Meanwhile, Justice Abang also directed that his firm, Destra Investment Ltd, should be wound up with all funds standing to its credit forfeited to the government.

Metuh and his firm were convicted on all the seven-count money laundering charge the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, preferred against them.

The court found them guilty of unlawfully receiving N400million from the Office of the National Security Adviser, ONSA, prior to the 2015 presidential election, without contract approval or execution. Metuh was also convicted for involving in an illicit transaction that involved the exchange of $2million, in violation of extant financial regulations.
