A few weeks after the Supreme Court decision saw Senator Douye Diri to victory as Bayelsa State Governor, the victorious candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has made a declaration that his new position is indeed a miracle.

Naija News recalls that Douye emerged governor of Bayelsa just after the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, David Lyon, was ordered out of office by the Supreme Court ruling, a few hours to his inauguration.

Speaking on his victory, Douye Diri stated that the Supreme court ruling that led to his victory was nothing but a miracle and thereby he sees himself as a miracle governor.

Douye in his statement noted that he had given up on the race since the declaration of David Lyon of the All Progressives Congress candidate by the Court of Appeal.

“I christen myself a miracle governor. I christen myself as a miracle governor. At a point, everybody gave up. We were the only party (PDP) the APC could not approach. We filed in court. The only place we had hope was in the judiciary,” said Douye.

“The case between the APC and the PDP was thrown out. The APC applauded the Supreme Court and on Thursday, February 13, 2020 the hammer came. We were in the wilderness and a torturous journey but here we are a miracle governor. They attempted to use the so-called federal might to impose somebody on Bayelsa.”

“There were those who said there will be no governor in Bayelsa State. To the glory of God, Bayelsa State has a governor. I am indeed a miracle governor.”

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the Liberation Movement (LM) in the last election in Bayelsa State, Vijah Opuama, has approached the court seeking the disqualification of Lawrence Ewrujakpor, the newly sworn-in Bayelsa Deputy Governor.
