Boko Haram: What I Told Leah Sharibu’s Father – Saraki
Former Senate President, Abubakar Bukola Saraki, has revealed that he spoke to the father of Leah Sharibu, the abducted Dapchi girl still in captivity of Boko Haram.
Naija News reports that Thursday marked the second year of Leah Sharibu in the captivity of insurgents.
Recall that Leah was the only Christian among the 110 students of Government Girls Secondary School, Dapchi, Yobe state, northern Nigeria, abducted on February 19, 2018.
While other girls were released by the insurgents following Federal Government’s intervention, Miss Sharibu was allegedly held back on account of her alleged refusal to renounce her Christian faith and has since been in Boko Haram’s captivity.
In a post on his Twitter page on Friday, Saraki stated that he reassured Leah Sharibu’s father on a phone call that his daughter will return home safely soon.
Saraki wrote: “Earlier this evening, I spoke with Mr Nathan Sharibu to personally sympathize with him over the two-year ordeal his family has had to endure with the continued captivity of his daughter, Leah. I prayed with him that Allah will one day ensure her safe return.
“I also prayed that Allah will give our security agencies the wisdom and skill required to bring this insurgency to an end.”
