CAF Awards 2019: Asisat Oshoala Named African Women’s Player Of The Year

Super Falcons and Barcelona star Asisat Oshoala has been named the 2019 Africa Women’s Player of the Year for the fourth time.

Naija News reports that Oshoala was announced the winner of the award for the fourth time category at the CAF Awards 2019 which took place in Egypt on Tuesday, January 7, 2020.

This online news platform understands that the Nigeria international beat off competition from Thembi Kgatlana of South Africa and Ajara Nchout of Cameroon.

The Super Falcons forward grabbed Africa’s best player award after a year in Barcelona where she joined first on loan before signing a permanent contract.

Oshoala’s competitors for the award were Gabrielle Onguene and Ajara Nchout of Cameroon, South African star Thembi Kgatlana and Tabitha Chawinga of Malawi.

Winning the award today means Oshoala has now won the CAF African Women’s Player Of The Year for the fourth time, equaling the record for the most wins held by Perpetua Nkwocha, a Nigerian legend.
