Governor Godwin Obaski of Edo State has disowned a planned welcome rally for Osagie Ize-Iyamu by the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Naija News reports that the rally the State chairman of the party, Anselm Ojezua, described as provocative, will hold on Friday, December 13, 2019.

It was gathered that top members of the APC from Abuja are set to attend the mega rally to receive former governorship candidate Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and hundreds of his supporters, from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Speaking to newsmen after meeting with heads of security agencies, Obaseki said the state APC has denied organising any rally.

“The issue of public safety is a major concern to us as a government and this being the last security council meeting for the year, we had to put up measures in place to tackle security challenges,” he said.

Also speaking on the planned rally, Anslem Ojezua, said such rally is capable of throwing the state into crisis.

He urged members of the APC in the state not to have anything to do with the event.

“The organisers of that event are sufficiently seasoned and experienced as politicians to know the proper procedure and tradition usually attendant to this sort of event,” Ojezua said.
