Kogi: Dino Melaye Set To File Petition At The Tribunal On Monday

The Senatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party in Kogi West, Dino Melaye, is set to file a petition at the Kogi State Election Petition Tribunal over the declaration of Smart Adeyemi, the candidate of the All Progressives Congress as the winner of the senatorial election.

Senator Melaye also had the support of his party in the petition filed before the state tribunal.

The spokesperson of PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, during an interview in Abuja stated that the petition would be filed on Monday.

He said, “We are going to the tribunal. We are going to file our application at the tribunal. We won the election.”

“We will file the appeal hopefully on Monday. The party and the candidate are going to court together.”

The PDP senatorial candidate had challenged the declaration of Adeyemi by the Independent National Electoral Commission.

Melaye who took to his Twitter account described the declaration of Adeyemi as temporal and evaporative.

He said, “I will challenge the temporal and evaporative victory of Adeyemi at the tribunal. Victory attained by violence and fraud is tantamount to defeat… for it is momentary.”

“It is not about Dino Melaye. It’s about Nigeria and our electoral system. I stay the course … not over yet.”
