The Federal Executive Council (FEC) on Wednesday approved the change of name for the Ministry of Communications.

This was made known in a post on Twitter by the Personal Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on New Media, Bashir Ahmad.

He wrote: “The Federal Executive Councilhas approved the change of name for Ministry of Communications, now to be called Ministry of Communications and Digital Economy.”

Naija News had reported that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo had presided over the weekly FEC meeting following the absence of President Buhari who is currently in Russia attending the Russia-African Summit.

It was learnt that the opening Muslims prayers at the meeting was offered by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu, while the Christian prayer was said by the Minister of State for Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uchechukwu Ogah.

Apart from the ministers, other cabinet members in the hall included the Secretary to the Government of the Federation represented by the Dr. Habiba Lawal, the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari, and the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Folasade Yemi-Esan.
